Emprender, Emprendedurismo y Emprendimiento: Mi mapa personal

Para iniciar este viaje y entender el mapa de ruta, lo primero que me gustaría compartir con ustedes, es la importancia de la semántica en nuestro quehacer cotidiano. La semántica, de acuerdo a la definición de la Real Academia Española, es la disciplina que estudia el significado de los signos lingüísticos (las palabras) y sus combinaciones, por lo cual es de mucha utilidad, cuando queremos comprender el uso y alcance de ciertas palabras y terminología, para usar de forma adecuada.

En el caso de las palabras: emprender, emprendedurismo y emprendimiento, debemos ser conscientes de que al emplear estos términos estamos aceptando el trasfondo económico de esta actividad. En esta particular reflexión, cuando hablamos de emprendimiento, estamos manejando una concepción económica del mundo, ya que cuando se habla de emprendimiento en distintos contextos (comercio, investigación, administración, comunidad, sociedad, industria), el significado de la expresión no siempre es el mismo y puede tener algunas variaciones.

Entonces, desde una aproximación económica, podemos distinguir varios significados, cuyo valor principal (desde mi punto de vista), es ayudarnos a entender nuestra ubicación en el mapa de un proceso productivo, identificar nuestras fortalezas, recursos, brechas y oportunidades, así como también conocer las herramientas que necesitamos aplicar en cada etapa del camino, para alcanzar nuestros objetivos.

Lo primero que debemos preguntarnos, al iniciar este viaje, es ¿quién hace qué? Al hacernos esta pregunta, nos encontramos con la primera palabra-respuesta que nos servirá de guía en esta ruta: Emprendedor, un adjetivo que califica a la persona que emprende acciones innovadoras y productivas. Su foco está en el fortalecimiento permanente de sus habilidades duras y blandas (las habilidades duras representan aquellas cosas que hemos aprendido a hacer o a usar, como las herramientas, tecnologías u otras competencias y las habilidades blandas son los rasgos interpersonales que hemos desarrollado con el tiempo, como las comunicaciones asertivas, la credibilidad o la generosidad), ya que estas habilidades son las que permiten el hacer, por lo cual cada emprendedor, de acuerdo al área en la cual desea emprender, debe revisar cuales son las que debe fortalecer o incorporar a su portafolio personal.

Algunos ejemplos de habilidades duras y blandas:

  • Habilidades blandas: trabajo en equipo, liderazgo, comunicación asertiva, pensamiento crítico, capacidad analítica y de resolución de problemas, atención al detalle, deseos de aprender y estar a la vanguardia, adaptabilidad, priorización y manejo de tareas múltiples.
  • Habilidades duras: programación web, habilidades de contabilidad y matemática financiera, habilidades lingüísticas, conocimientos de marketing y negocios, expresión oral, diseño gráfico, herramientas de análisis de datos, conocimientos en software administrativo, entre otras.

La segunda pregunta, conectada directamente con la anterior, es ¿qué hace? Emprender es un verbo, que indica la acción de comenzar una obra, proyecto o negocio. Implica el uso de recursos y cierto grado de dificultad o riesgo. Las actividades que deben ejecutarse, cuando el emprendedor decide emprender, deben ser plasmadas en un Plan de Acción, para evitar la dispersión, el desorden y desperdicio de recursos.

Un plan de acción es un mapa que establece el camino para conseguir las metas. Refleja la ruta que debe seguir una organización con base en una planificación estratégica. El éxito de un buen plan de acción depende de la constante revisión de su cumplimiento, ya que apenas es un mapa de ruta, una bitácora de viaje, que nos ayuda a avanzar en terrenos desconocidos y puede tener ajustes y correcciones, dependiendo de los obstáculos e imprevistos que aparezcan en el camino.

¿Cómo hacerlo? Esta tercera pregunta es la que con mayor frecuencia me hacen los líderes empresariales y emprendedores que acompaño. El ¿cómo? tiene que ver con la palabra proceso, ese modelo, punto de referencia, esquema o sistema, que se elabora para facilitar la comprensión y el estudio de una realidad, comprendiendo sus fases, temporalidad y resultados esperados. En este caso, el modelo a seguir es el Emprendedurismo.

Según la Academia Mexicana de la Lengua, el neologismo emprendedurismo se emplea como la forma hispanizada de la voz, originaria del inglés, entrepreneurship, la cual significa ‘capacidad de organizar, manejar y asumir los riesgos de los negocios de una empresa, de ser un emprendedor’. De igual manera, esta voz muestra una alta variabilidad, pues de ella se registran las formas emprendedorismo, emprendorismo, emprenderismo, entre otros. También existen otras posibles traducciones para entrepreneurship como espíritu emprendedor o actitud emprendedora.

Desde una concepción productiva, el emprendedurismo se define como un modelo o proceso económico, mediante el cual una persona convierte su idea en un proyecto concreto, que genera beneficios sociales o económicos. El seguimiento y control se hace, a través de la Gestión de Proceso, una disciplina de gestión que propone la optimización de los procesos de un negocio u operación, para generar más valor para el cliente. Existe una combinación de cuatro etapas (planificación, dirección, organización y control), todas necesarias para comprender y poder mejorar continuamente los procesos, cuya finalidad es formular objetivos, desarrollar funciones, involucrar al talento humano y generar productos o servicios.

Finalmente, ¿Para qué lo hace? El resultado final, de todo este recorrido que hace el emprendedor, activando acciones bajo un modelo económico productivo, es lograr un Emprendimiento, saludable y sostenible. La mejor manera de evaluar ese resultado y saber que tan saludable y sostenible puede ser, es a través del uso de indicadores de gestión.

Los indicadores de gestión son la expresión cuantitativa y/o cualitativa, del comportamiento y desempeño de un proceso, es una característica específica, observable y medible que puede ser usada para mostrar los cambios y progresos que se están obteniendo, hacia el logro de un resultado específico. Los indicadores deben permitir monitorear el logro de los objetivos a los que se encuentran asociados, apoyando a los emprendedores y líderes organizacionales, en la evaluación de la gestión y mejora continua de los niveles de aprendizaje en la organización.
